On a DMP say I come into some money (eg if my bank ever repays me the charges they owe) can I pay off some of the debts or do I have to stick with the DMP set out?

That depends - If you do use it to pay off debts then you should spread it pro-rata between your creditors (Payplan will do that for you if you ask them to). I asked Payplan the same question and was told that if it's a small amount it's best to keep it as contingency/saving as if a creditor gets a bigger payout for 1 month they will start pushing for more every month.

My bonus this year was so small it didn't really matter in the end

Isnt payplan funded by the banks that we owe the moneys too.. i dont see how they are different from the ones that advertise on tv ( as they get charged from us ) wont they be on our side more than payplan..

I could be wrong but i was told that from a Union Member at work who dealt with payplan rep, they wanted us to advertise their posters etc in staff diarys

They are supported by the financial industry, they act independant of the banks, but act as a go between you and the financial company you're having difficulty with.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

So nothing really bad about them then. Am thinking of phoning up first thing in the morning then.
