Tesco "out Of Date Wine"

Bought six bottles of Wolf Blass Green Label Chardonnay on offer at £4.99, was £7.??. Packaged in plastic bottles, thought I would try. When I got home, noticed there was a BEST BEFORE END date, showing either MARCH, APRIL and MAY 2008. Took them back, got refund and because I was not happy received a £5 voucher card. When they checked the shelf, all the bottles were showing MARCH 2008. So beware....

Are you SURE these weren't bottling dates? Did they definitely say Best Before?
Wine bottles are not required to show Best Before dates, so I suspect these were bottling dates.
If they are Best Before dates, there's nothing to stop Tesco selling them. They are just for guidance.

Def best before. You never see this on glass bottles, thought may be something to do with the plastic, similar to soft drinks that also have best before....0

They have had these in home bargains - similar short dates but selling for £2.99 - tasted fine to me but £1 cheaper than Mr T
