Black water marks on the cistern

Hi yesterday my handle on the loo finally broke and I had to buy a new one .My son-in-law bless him fitted it for me and it works beautifully, only slight problem I have is that where the seal to the handle had gone there had been over the last few months a slight leak which left a black limescale marks on the cistern itself.I have tried stardrops and shower clean stuff that normally cleand limescale off the showerhead but the blessed marks won't go. I scrubbed it with a scotchbrite sponge and it took some off but not all of it any ideas ?

Hi, Jackie :beer: Have you tried vinegar Failing that I'd try a prorietary limescale remover. I keep a bottle of Limelite handy for these situations.

I'll see if we have any other threads on this.

I would second the vinegar, try soaking a cloth and leaving on overnight

what about trying "barkeepers friend". Its brilliant for the limescale around taps.

Made up a paste of Barkeepers Friend and white vinegar, and hey presto all the marks are gone
