Allied International Credit phone call - what did they want?

This afternoon a guy called me from Allied International Credit telling me his name and asked me if there was a 'Mr or Mrs Bart Girl available'. (there is no Mr BartGirl anyway - but i didnt tell him that!!) I said I was Mrs and asked who he was. He repeated his name and company name. Just 'Allied International' he didnt mention the 'credit' bit.

He then asked for my address to be confirmed 'due to the Data P.A' I refused to do that, and said to him that he could be 'anyone' and until he told me what his call was regarding - or who his company were - i would not divulge anything further.

He started getting all het up and said ' confirm who you are and your address' i repeated that he knows who i am - i did confirm that; and until he was able to 'expand' on the nature of his call - i would not confirm my address. So we got to a standstill..he then tried another tactic..'i know part of your address - you live in 'LazyTown;Shire' you just need to confirm the first line of your address'.

Again i refused and remained calm telling him that unless he'd explain further - he'd get nothing further out of me.
He obviously got p*d off at this point and said 'fine;its up to you; its a personal matter;do as you please' his Tone was obviously undesirable.

I've since googled them and am assuming that its in relation to a Lloyds debt dating back early 2003. I now know that its prob in my best interests not to confirm that i 'own' this debt??? And i also think that perhaps they dont know my address - hence the phonecall.
I have had my mobile number since 2003 anyway so i'm not alarmed at that - what i'd like you kind folk to advise me of is:

1. do you think he was looking for my address ? (never had anything in writing from them before) also have lived in several addresses in LazyTown,Shire so that didnt shock me either..

2. do you think i should just hang on until end year when it should drop off my record anyway?

3. should i call him back? The threads on here indicate they're not exactly the pleasant-est of people to deal with..

It's odds on that they know the address already. There is a whole industry involved in changing debtors. Probably best not to phone back but ask for future communications to be in writing only, if they ring again.
