Oh no!
My first major virus panic.
My dell machine came with norton built in and it had detected a big V.
Normally it just gets rid of any little rascals but it can't quarantine or delete this one so I pressume that makes it a little more serious.
It says : The file C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxxxx\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\KZL29365\FLoader[1].exe is infected with the Trojan Horse virus.
Please can anyone give me any pointers on how to kill the little blighter.
I've done a search ( F3 ) and can't find either Content.IE5, KZL29365 or FLoader[1].exe on my hard drive so I must be doing something wrong.
Thanks in advance.

Does norton give you the name of the virus or just the fact that its detected a trojan?0 -
If your computer gets a virus, take it to a VDU clinic

Clear your temporary internet files to start with, you may also need to run hijackthis and spybot S&D too.0
-
delete your internet temp files in ie, tools, internet options.
If it caught it at the point of infection, norton probably dealt with it at the timeEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
firstly i would make sure norton is updated, then click start -search-files and folders and put in the first part of the name of the trojan or the KZL..... - see if that finds the location for you. Then delete it and empty your recycle bin. Id also shut down the internet connection while doing it....after id do the search for it again and make sure its not still there......then run the updated virus scan again. Im sure that a techie will have an easier way of getting rid of it but thats how i do it. Also you can go to the norton site (symatec or something like that) and they give instructions on how to rid trojans/virus's. Good luck'Normal' is a dryer setting.0

I used to wonder just why these virus makers bother, apart from making money for anti-virus companies, I guess if you hang enough fishing lines in the river your going to catch a big fish one day, this PDF page tells a little of what trojans get up to, maybe worth a couple of minutes read to us uneducated ones, if your a pro you already know what havoc they could bring, here you go, or not, whatever the case may be http://www.gfi.com/whitepapers/network-protection-against-trojans.pdfThere are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

I pretty much followed everyones advice. ( apart from going to the VDU clinic !!! )
.... and success - hopefully.
Updated, rebooted, switched off internet, full clean and voila, with a bit of luck the beasty has been removed - for now.
Thanks again.0 -

You are so right, nothing worse than not knowing what might get destroyed or damaged.
Thanks again, gc0
