Buying In Advance

Here’s where I’m at.
Within the past 12 months my 5 year plus television has been to the repair shop twice. Now there wasn’t that much wrong with it but I’m thinking that if it goes again then perhaps the best option would be to buy a new set.
Fifty pounds now and fifty pounds again and it would not be that long until you would have spent the cost of a new telly on repairs!
So here’s the question. Given that I’m in no particular rush to buy, what’s my best option? I’ve decided that its going to be a 32inch HD ready set.
As I’m not a constant tv watcher the make is not especially important but my last television was a badged set and truthfully I was never that found of it! I’d like LCD but would go with CRT if the deal was good enough.
I live in a small rural town in Northern Ireland and to be fair our local electrical retailers sometimes come up with very good deals, but the choice of make is limited. I’ll be watching them. Unfortunately I qualify for senior persons discounts
I’ve had a quick look around Amazon and there seems to be some good offers there especially in their used section.
Ebay I see as distant possibility; to be honest unless I knew the supplier I would be reluctant to hand over that amount of money for I’d be left on my own if anything went wrong.
There are of course the likes of ASDA who sell on line. I’d be comfortable buying from them.
A close relative works for Argos so that's also a possibility.
Given the above what’s the best way to track that deal? Are there any bots or sites that will keep me abreast of special deals? What’s the best bot to use for buying televisions?
It occurs to me I’ve been given an opportunity to save up my hard earned cash and buy for cash when a good deal appears and not be at the mercy of the market having to buy at a time not of my choosing and when cash might not be that plentiful.
Any suggestions welcomed.
