Yep, they are wasting their money and they do hang on for a while, sometimes 10mins or so. In the past I have in no uncertain terms told them I would NOT buy anything from a cold caller - EVEN if it was something I was interested in, on principle.

I am not rude, but maybe abrupt cos I've got no patience with them...and I can't bring myself to 'thank' them even in a 'no thanks' way. I don't want to 'thank' them for wasting my time and energy to get to the phone and take their call. I get cross when OH does! They also annoy me ringing my elderly mom, :mad: I have now told her to put the phone down on anyone who does not introduce themselves as a known contact straight away.

I agree it should be outlawed. Someone should start a campaign, but not me, as I don't have time right now. I'd happily support it tho.

As for junk mail, sending assorted junk mail from other companies, or even their own back in those pre-paid envelopes seems to have stopped some of mine. Gives me a satisfying feeling dropping it into the post box, having taken off any ref. to yourself of course.:p
Good idea to shred it too, so it falls out all over their desks/offices. :T

I once got a call at about 8am on a Sunday Morning. The person on the other end went through a short script ending with "I would like to confirm you have a BT line".

I didn't, so I told her so in no uncertain terms, and then told her what I thought of people calling me up so early on a Sunday morning (especially since that had been the first Sunday lie-in I'd had in a long time). I'm not usually so rude, but I was enjoying my sleep, and I'm really not a morning person at the best of times.

I no longer have a phone connected to my land-line and use my mobile exclusively now. I never answer calls from withheld numbers (unless I'm specifically expecting a call from one), and I'm rarely cold-called anyway.

What a wonderful idea! Tell me if you can find a way to do it! TPS worked for a while - but seems not to anymore.

Ive been getting calls from a company claiming they have records of debts that I have on loans and credit cards ( not true ) now when I tell them that I havent the caller questioned me are you sure ? Im signed to TPS and I have told them a few times to remove my name from there list or I will report them the one today had a 020 at the beginning of the number. Next time they call Im going to ask for there company number because they are starting to get very annoying calling around about the same time every night . I couldnt get the full number as someone called as I was listerning to it !!!

Couldn't we start a petition on the 10 Downing Street thingy and get all the MSE crowd to trip over and sign it on the internet?

It appears that junk everything annoys everyone - but if we all only moan about it and do nothing it is never going to stop!

Don't know how to do it - but will look into it - if anyone does know how to do it please tell me.
