Hi everyone, Last year i moved out of my mums home in September 07, in about July 07 i had the services of virgin media put into the home in my name, i never received or signed a contract for the services, . During the 2 month or so the service was terrible, it was hardly ever on, always broke etc..
In september 2007 i moved out of home into my own place, "know i was in theory in contract by word of mouth with virgin" so i contacted them on numerous occasions to explain i was moving out and wanting to do the right thing i asked for it be transfered to my mums name with a charge of £20, they agreed and said they would send all the paper work out etc.. week after week they never sent it, i keep ringin up and getting told same thing. So in the end i just said "sod this" i wasnt in contract in theory because i never signed any paper what so ever, i cannceled the direct debit as i felt they wasnt playing ball with me and i wasnt paying for sky at my new place plus virgin at my mums.
Fast forward to now at my new place and i received a letter from BPO collections for the sum of £24.74 - in big red letters FORMAL NOTICE - DO NOT IGNORE , the letter goes on to say if i dont pay this within 1 day they will take court action agaisnt myself and screw my credit file up.
now my question is by law can they even touch my credit report without any form of signed agreement or take me to court?
i never wanted this to happen as i wanted to pay them etc.. (i beleive in karma) -
ive got a feeling that BPO collection are asking for such a small nominal amount to get me to acknolegde the debt in sense, the letter says nothing of "FULL OR FINAL SETTLEMENT" just for me to pay this amount within one day?
£24.74 does seem a very small amount as my monthly service was £32?
im not sure what to do? i was going to just pay them online but i dont want them coming back with i owe this much more xyz
many thanks \0
