Starting First Pension and Very confused...

I'm 25 years old and about to start my first pension but still unsure as to which provider I should go with and what charges are good/bad
I went to a Financial Advisor at Nationwide who recommended a stakeholder pension which is run through Legal & General as a FTSE tracker index but charges fees of 1%.
Can anyone help at all or provide any advice on whether this is a good deal or not?!?
