Help with Joint account

My SD had a joint account with her ex. She called into the bank 3 months ago to take her name off it, which they said they had done (thought it odd at the time).
Her ex has run up a big debt on the acount & not repaid any. When she called the bank about it they admitted that she had called in & also admitted they had given her duff info about it being closed down/name took off.
They claimed that they had sent her ex (a**eh**e:mad: ) a form about it to sign & return which of course he ignored. Instead of letting her know there was a problem, they upped the overdraft for him.
Is there anything she can do about the debt? they claim they have now frozen the account but its a bit late now.

Try the CAB (its free) it certainly seems like she has a case as the bank have admitted to giving her the wrong information. I hardly think they can make her accountable for the debts run up.0
