looking for a loan of 25k to pay off a laon with lloyds (currently at 7.9%). probably over 6 years although may reduce it to 5 depending on the rate i get. Whats the best one out there at the mo? I've got a £185 early repayment penalty on the lloyds one but surely i'll be saving this with a reduced rate somewhere else?
Many thanks in advance

As seems the norm these days, the rates they quote may rise depending on your credit rating and/or your perceived risk.
I just went through the proess with Northern Rock for a £10,500 loan and although I got their best rate (5.6%) they tried to push the PPI which would have added £45/month to the repayments.
Can only talk for Northern Rock here but there's no early repayment charges and you can overpay without penalty too. This is my 3rd loan with NR.Dave. :wave:0 -

If your canny you will not need to pay the max amount of £185 in redemption fee. They way to do it is pay the loan amount outstanding less £1.00. When this has been done ask LLoyds for a settlment figure and they will base it on the amount of £1.00. I speak from experience as I was in the same situation and it worked for me.0 -
