Hi all!
I am looking to give a good and loving home to a cat or kitten, me and the OH have come to a compromise, i am allowed one providing he gets to choose the colour! so it MUST be grey/tabby type. Either male or female and would consider any cat of this description upto the age of about 2.
We live in Rugby so anybody know of a cat or kitten needing to be rehomed? I would prefer for it to not need regular treatment at the vet (ie regular medication) as we need to keep an eye on the pennies!
But i can assure you it would go to a great home, i have 2 sons age 2 and 6 who will love our new arrival and i am very much a cat lover so he or she will definately be pampered! Also we live in the middle of the countryside so lots of open spaces too!
PLEASE PLEASE keep your eyes and ears open and let me know if anyone knows of any looking for a home.
Thanks again!

Have you got a local cat sanctuary or shelter near you, maybe worth a phone call to see if they can help you.I know around our area they have them.0

i've got a cat i'd gladly give away.......but he's the wrong colour. if i sent him in a grey jumper or coat.. :rotfl:
[he was a nice cat, just terrified of my child - esp when he gets pounced on and roared at. if you're 2 thats really funny]0 -
You need to factor in the cost of neutering if you decide on getting a kitten. Even if you live in the middle of nowhere your moggy will wander off to find a suitable (even feral) friend of the opposite sex!
Proper tabbies are much sought after (they're so pretty and are always featured in ads) and greys (called "blues" by some people) are fairly rare.
I'm sure if you go and looked around your local rescue centre you will find a cat /kitten that you won't be able to resist, regardless of it's colour!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
If you are serious about getting a kitten please consider pet insurance. I have just had to fork out ££'s for a vet bill for a blood test, antibiotics and 3 days in the RSPCA hospital this week that couldnt have come at a worse time. Plus there are annual booster injections, worming, flea control, neuturing etc. Unfortunatly my cats are too old to be insured now 15 & 17 yrs old.
Not trying to put you off in anyway but better to make an informed decision.0 -
Feisty_Fairy,
As you are having no luck finding your kitten on the I Wanna Board, I will move your thread over to the England board to see if you fare any better there.

Rugby Branch of the Cats Protection League can be contacted on 01788 570 010 (Cats Protection main website is https://www.cats.org.uk) or why don't you take a trip tomorrow to your local R.S.P.C.A. shelter, I am sure you would find a kitten or cat which would want to live with you.
The best cat, the most loving cat I have owned was a little tortie, certainly not the prettiest cat but the loudest purr in the world. Still miss her.
Cats have the tendency to find/choose their owners, they have an uncanny knack of knowing where vacancies exist so don't be surprised if one arrives on your doorstep.

Hi all!
Thanks for all your replies so far, well i have had no luck at all, i have contacted all the local shelters and contacted the cats protection league shelters (closest Coventry) and not even had a phone call back as i had to leave a message for someone to contact me, then i have to be checked etc, all very time consuming! But when you get one from them they are vaccinated, wormed, flead etc already and approx £40,so its well worth it as the vaccinations alone are about £35. Also i think i am more likely to get one a bit older, as we wouldnt have the heart to leave a tiny kitten at home by itself when its only just settling in, so we are thinking more around 3months plus.
Keep em coming then peeps and thanks again!
Kindest Regards

Hi Feisty,
Even a 3+ month old young cat may feel lonely if it's left at home alone all day long. When my cat was that age, he felt lonely so I had to find him a friend about the same age from the shelter. Never looked back... either of us!!"There is something about the presence of a cat...that seems to take the bite out of being alone.” Louis Camuti0 -
Have you tried contacting vets in the area. Often healthy cats & kittens that have strayed get taken there, kept for a few days and then taken to the RSPCA if nobody claims them. As grey tabbys are rare and popular you would be better to get them before they go to the RSPCA (usually peoples 1st port of call). Many vets keep registers of people looking for cats to rehome too.
I've got a grey tabby kitten from a vets in Leics 2 weeks ago but unfortunately he doesnt have any stray brothers or sisters!
Loughborough Cat Sanctury are also worth a try: 01509 263357.
I'm sure you will find one soon.0 -
Have you got your cat yet?
Did you try the RSPCA sanctuary at Allesley on the North of Coventry? Had a new large 'wing' built about 2 years ago for cats as they were getting so many. Have you thought about putting a 'wanted' ad in your local newspaper.? Good luck.0
