Just be aware you can't seem to cancel a BTcontract. We moved house and seem to be stuck in the contract till the end of the year 3 months phone and 9 months broadband (don't ask). So maybe bear that in mind - sounds like it might work if you were sure you wanted to stay in the contract that long though .Making my money go further with MSE :j

Thanks everyone for your tips. I really will look at dropping food bill. As for haircuts, entertainment and holidays etc i dont tend to spend anything on these as i dont have anything. My electric is a nightmare and cant change until paid off arrears.
The rent is actually a morgage in my parents name. (see above) I cant lower this, i have tried to claim my 25% council tax but due to thie kids being with me fri sat and sun and my OH here mon tue i am not entitled. The life assurance is a must. My phone bill as soon as my contract ends ill cancel... I have just phoned BT they wont give me half price connection. They will spread the cost tho worth doing. Its a joke really as i watched my flat being built and BT put the lines in i saw them but they still want to rip me off for £125.
The fuel is for me getting to the kids and getting to work. Cant public transport to work live in a village work in Birmingham city centre. I live 30 miles away but was only place i could afford.
The kids dad wont help out. he would prefer me not to see them. Fought too long and hard to get access cant give up on them now. I have been known to drive down spend a day in the park with them. Sleep in the car and see them again the following day. Just because i couldnt afford the fuel from bham to london back and down again and back.
Thanks for everything guys its so helpful

Hi there,
Just a thought but do you have a spare room for a lodger? If you have a spare room but need it for when the children visit could you let someone use it during the week, someone perhaps who worked in Brum but lived elsewhere and went home at weekends?
Also have you thought about car sharing or offering a lift to someone on your route to work in return for sharing costs and petrol? I think there are sites which people in touch but couldn't give you the name.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420
