Yes, I guess my plans are ambitious! We're hiring a barn which has 17 small rectangular windows all high up. My florist friends are going to decorate them with candles and ivy. I'd really like them to light the candles then leave them and not worry.
The Yankee candles sound like a great idea. I've had one before and it was lovely. I really want to create a warming autumnal feel and those candles would do that (yum!). The barn is huge so I doubt if the scent would be overwhelming.
I'll nip to the garden centre at some point to have a good sniff at them all!
Will let you know how I get on.

Try doing a search on e-bay. The last time I looked there was someone selling some off for about £1 each (can't remember what the postage was, though)I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Hi Speckled Egg - glad to be of help. Your plans for the barn sound fantastic, but even bare candles wouldnt last that long without dripping or needing the wicks trimmed. Truly, Yankee candles, just the small ones, in a jar would do the trick. I have never need to trim their wicks. Would love to hear the outcome of your plans. I would love to have tackled this challenge in my working days. Once had to produce 30 Orange candles (8 inches high) to be inserted in a flower pot and decorated with RED peonies for a wedding. Takes all sorts I guess. Good luck - keep in touch. Mwmember # 12 of Skaters Club

Ah Merrywidow, that is very sweet of you! My friends are brilliant florists and I know they will do a fantastic job. The candles are my department!
I haven't managed to get to the garden centre yet although I've had a quick look online. Which of the Yankee candles would be best, do you think?
If you PM me your email address I'll send you a few photos and let you know how it all goes! (Our wedding is 4th October.)

Speckled Egg - was flipping the channels on TV and up popped a Yankee Candle Show on QVC - new fragrance - Wedding Day Whispers just launched. Small jar candles burn for 30 hrs and cost approx £10. Why not track them down and do a deal - worth a try. Good luck.member # 12 of Skaters Club
