What can I add to my washing?

Hi all,
I am noticing that when I wash a load of clothes and they have dried they feel rather rough! I have tried changing washing powder but it makes no difference. Most of the time I use Persil and always use Comfort staysoft. I usually do two loads a day. Sometimes I add Nappisan, Woolite or Oxi Action to the washload aswell.
Do you have any tips about what I could add to the clothes....Sometimes it feels like I'm wearing sandpaper :rotfl:. We don't have a tumble drier so our washing dries on a clothes horse in the conservatory or outside on the washing line.
Thanks for your help.

Are you using too much powder, this can sometimes leave things feeling hard.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0

I always used to use Persil and Comfort but have now changed to Aldi's own brand liquid, just as good as Persil IMO and much cheaper, also fine with my sensitive skin. After reading about various people using white vinegar instead of Comfort/Lenor, I can say the washing is just as soft and so much cheaper. I used to worry that the clothes would smell of vinegar but they don't.0

Thanks all,
I have been using Persil liquid which we buy from Auchen in France. I use exact dosage advised on the bottle.
Using white vinegar sounds interesting. It's also not very expensive. Please will you clarify how much I'm supposed to use? Do I pour into the softner compartment in the drawer? Can using vinegar cause damage to my washing machine?
Thanks again.0 -
Are you living in a hard water area? I have noticed a lot of difference since moving away from one. My face flannels used to become almost rock hard after a year with the hard water deposits. I've had some here for much longer and although my towels and flannels aren't fluffy when air dried, they aren't like sandpaper either. Vinegar will help with the hardness but if it's really bad you may need a water softner like Calgon.0

You dont have to use white vinegar....brown vinegar works just as well and is cheaper especially in ALdi/Ldl. Doesnt ruin your machine as far as I know.
Pour into softener compartment0 -
How much vinegar must I add per load please?0

If you are in a hard water area, vinegar will do your machine good as it will soften limescale. Put it in the softener compartment.
I just put a 'splosh' in - hardly scientific, I know!
Also, use at least half the recommended dose of powder/liquid, if not less.
2 loads per day is an awful lot of washing - how big is your family? Are you sure you're not washing your clothes too much?0 -
