Where to buy cheap soya mince

Hi Guys!

I haven't posted on these boards for a while but I still "lurk" alot and pick up tips!

Anyway, after reading loads about bulking out your meals with soya/quorn mince, I have finally taken the plunge and brought some that was frozen and used over a quarter of the bag to bulk out a big batch of chilli I made the weekend. I was amazed by the results :T.
Anyway, I paid £1.99 for a 450gram bag of this stuff (cheapest frozen one from Mr T's), yet people on here say its cheap?! yet I think this was alot of money?

Having never brought this before and didn't know where to find it, my questions are (and I am a blonde so please bear with me):-
A) Was what I paid for this mince alot?
B) Can I get it cheaper elsewhere?
C) Can I buy it dried and is this cheaper?

Your opinions would be greatly received!

Many Thanks

You need the dried stuff - a 1kg bag of dried soya mince will expand when rehydrated and make at least 4kg edible mince!

You can get this from health food places like Holland and Barrett, or Wilton Wholefoods... I get mine on the local market for 99p a 1kg bag :)

You can buy it dry much cheaper and just soak it in water/gravy/stock/sauces etc. I buy mine from the health food shop for about 80p for a packet (makes 2-3 vege meals. If using it to bulk out could use it more times). I'm sure there are cheaper places but not near me and I like to support local businesses where finances allow.
