P60 when not in work

Hi
Been doing my mums tax credits update (attempting at least!) and due to serious illness she hasnt been in work since August 03 (came home from hospital in July 04).
Anyway, for the year April 04-05, she has a P60 with a relatively smal ammount in the "pay" box. No idea where this came from since she first had sick pay from work, then SSP, and then started receiving Incapacity Benefit (short term higher rate). (Awaiting decision on DLA from several months after submitting form but thats another story!)
Noticed in her bank account that her company made a small payment in Ocober 04 and then again in feb 05 - in wage slip in April 04 there was Nil pay.
Sorry for not explaining this well - but is it possible to get SSP and "works" sick pay at the same time? If so, then it could be arrears since SSP had been deducted when she got sick pay.
Also, i assume its not possible to get Incapacity Benefit when on SSP? Am assuming someone is going to ask for some money back but dont know who, and how much, very confused!!.
Thanks

When i was employed, my employer paid me 100% salary minus the value of SSP. They paid me full pay and then claimed back the value of SSP to compensate.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

As CIS stated, employers often pay full pay to sick employees and claim back the SSP.
SSP and Incapacity Benefit cannot be paid for the same period. As long as your mother hasn't worked and earned during her IB claim (which she hasn't) I wouldn't worry too much. Could it not be arrears of holiday pay or similar that her employer has discovered later? This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

And some like mine are generous and pay full pay for 3 months, and reclaim something from HMRC rather than leaving me to claim SSP. Mind you I might suggest they do the former in future, would save the charity money!Tharweb wrote:As CIS stated, employers often pay full pay to sick employees and claim back the SSP.
Or a backdated payrise with a little bit given to her after she left?Tharweb wrote:Could it not be arrears of holiday pay or similar that her employer has discovered later?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I was very lucky with my ex-employer in that they paid for 6 months before dropping you to 1/2 wages.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
