hi i know this might not be the right place to post this but am looking for a basic bank account for my partner. he currently has only a savings account with hsbc but no cash card etc.its a pain!!! he works part time but his firm are still in the dark ages and pay his wages via a pay packet !!! (if you can all remember what one of those is!) . he just wants an account to enable him to get his cash more easily, it doesnt have to have debit card, direct debits etc etc. i found one with nationwide on money supermarket .com that offers about 3.5% interest unlike lots of others where you earn squat! does anyone else know of any better and/or will i get a better deal if i do it through a cashback site??? thanks in advance.

Hi
Not sure about getting a better deal but I know that Barclays do a basic account with a cash card and they also do DDs etc. which may come in handy?
Its quite quick to set up as well.

If you can do internet banking with Nationwide, then you can activate an e-savings account to run along side the normal account.
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/e-savings/- 5.05% gross p.a./AER
- open e-Savings with just £1
- your interest calculated daily
- transfer money to and from a FlexAccount, Nationwide's current account, whenever you like through our Internet Bank

I have a cashminder account with the Coop, it comes with a visa electron, I actually have 2 of them, which one will be strictly for DD's.
And have just taken out an ISA with them, over the phone.
EDIT to say, there arent many coop branches, the nearest one to me is Brighton (i live next to Gatwick) but you can withdraw and pay in money over the counter at the post office, and pay in cheques at the PO too, I've never had any problems.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
