Ink on Carpet issue - Help

A few weeks ago I ordered printer ink from an well known online office supplier. When the ink arrived I opened the packet (which was a basic plastic wrapper no bubble protection) and the link feel onto my shirt, trousers and carpet. As you can imagine I was not too happy.

Well, I contacted the online store and they asked me to send photo's of the damage, I did so and they then paid me minus wear and tear for the clothes. The carpet is a different story they sent round a specialist cleaning firm which steam cleaned the carpet and tried to get the ink out however the ink has not been totally removed and you can see the ink stains on the carpet. I have now been contacted by the online store and they have told me that they are only offering to a couple of hundred pounds for the carpet as I had purchased the carpet with the house when I moved in a year ago and don't know how old the carpet is, (it looks like an axminster carpet quite thick with patterns on it) obviously it's not an ideal situation and I'm not very happy as you can see the stain on the carpet, to replace the carpet it assume would cost allot more than a couple hundred pounds. My question is there anything I can do or do I like it or lump it?

It may be worth contacting your insurance compay, they may well take it up with the ink company. Ultimately you will need to replace your carpet if you can't get the stain out, not just the patch with the ink....personally I would not accept it.

I would definitely recommend your insurers too, similar thing happened to me on a carpet also in a new home. I was carrying an old ink cartridge down the stairs in the old box when it fell out and damaged the carpet. I tried everything to get it out to no avail and didn't think to contact the insurers. Good luck getting your problem resolved, I hope you are able to get it replaced.
