FREE PARKING: starter for 10: Clapham Junction

Hi

First post and thought of something potentially useful, where I also have something to give :-)

Free parking - unusual in central London and particularly near a big station!
Yet round the back of Clapham Junction (on a not very salubrious estate, it has to be said!) there is a bit where the Council's street parking regulations, and the Council's Housing Estate parking regulations leave a gap, allowing unlimited free parking! I've used it when catching trains for the day, but also when getting horribly early trains to Gatwick for Easyjet and other budget weeks away. Although the estate is dodgy and not recommended for nervous people on their own after dark, I've never had any problems.
Be sure to park on the estate itself, on the parking bays directly at the side of the road, not further into the estate or on the car park - you'll see signs making it clear which places are chargeable and which are not.
The only reason I can think for a cash-hungry London borough to allow this is because Councillors & Officers like to be able to park next to the station on occasion!

Don't tell everyone!

Now, in exchange... anyone know of similar places to park near London Bridge? London Euston? The South Bank? Let's get a thread going here....

  • or in Lidl car park
  • At Newberry Park tube station it's £2.00 all day
  • Do you know if it's possible to park overnight at Newbury Park? I asked the London Underground people and they told me to check with the owners who haven't got back to me with an answer.

    Thanks

Read somewhere on here, but sadly can't remember where, that there is free parking to be had in one of the square at weekends where there are lots of embassies, as parking is free for their staff during the week, and obviously there aren't so many people working on a weekend - does anyone know where I mean?
GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£400
  • If you are going to a London theatre, the Masterpark scheme run by the City of Westminster gets you a 50% on the exorbitant prices. There's a great underground car park just off Trafalgar Square, next to the mall.

    See website for details: http://www.westminster.gov.uk/transportandstreets/parking/masterpark/theatreland.cfm

I'm still looking for other methods. In a couple of weeks I'm travelling from Kent by car (a necessity) but pooling with others. Going to ChinaTown for a meal. Any suggestions on best way to reduce parking costs?
