Isn't it about time you stopped criticising beds offers on here (not just mine!) and admit you sell them for a living?

Why not go all the way and post your prices and terms so everyone can see if yours are the best deals?

In my opinion, from personal experience, Mattressman has, overall, the best range of bed offers on the net.

My suggestion was not for the OP to buy the £200 bed but to point out they are there from that price.

If you don't mind, I am quite open on MSE that I sell beds, and anyone who has looked through many of the threads relating to beds or mattresses would realise that.

I do not come on here to advertise, I come on here to give honest advice, and to put right all the rubbish that many people are told by many bed retailers. There are many MSE members who will vouch for this.

I wasn't criticising your point of view. This is a forum where many people give their points of view. I was simply giving my well informed point of view as someone who does know the bed trade.

I agree that mattressman are a well known company (due to their huge advertising budget), and do have quite a good reputation. However they are by no means the best value, and don't have the best terms and conditions should you wish to return an item.

So please don't go getting upset when someone who is well informed doesn't agree with you.

Don't worry, I get it all the time from people who can't believe that someone who sells beds could actually give honest and helpful advice.

I'm sorry but I didn't see much advice other than negative!

Another vote for Mattressman. I found them to be excellent quality, value for money and efficient.

Unfortunately not all helpful advice will be positive. I spend a great deal of my own time on here correcting some of the rubbish that people are told by some bed retailers. I have even been told a number of times that sales reps have told potential customers that a mattress is 100% memory foam (100% memory foam mattresses don't exist). This is just an example of sales reps not even knowing about the products that they sell.

The bed industry is full of sales gimmicks, and most of them are just designed to make you part with more cash, and in many cases end up with a bed that doesn't suit you. I have exposed most of these gimmicks in these forums, and have even been slated by some people (who were obviously in the bed trade) for doing so.

So yes LesD, it is difficult not to give advice that sounds negative when you are exposing many of these gimmicks, but there is one huge positive.......that I have helped to stop loads of people being ripped off.

Many people ask me for advice about beds, and if I think the bed they are asking about is a good buy I will say so. In fact you will notice in some of my posts that I will point out a couple of things wrong with a mattress, but then say that for the money it is good value.

No clue where the OP is based, but Helibeds advertise on TV a lot in the Southwest and they're the cheapest prices I've seen.

Now I know I am going to get slated for this, but I presume that PasturesNew has bought a bed from Helibeds during a sale because they actually seem to be very very expensive on their web site. I'll give you an example:

Now this is a budget king size mattress from Helibeds http://www.helibeds.co.uk/product.php?xProd=4 priced at £259.95.

This one is to a similar spec (although has a damask fabric rather than stitchbond) from mattressman http://www.mattressman.co.uk/snuggle_beds/mattresses/mattresses/king_size/P610S6112/snuggle_damask_quilt.aspx for £125

Now just in case you think that is a one off here are the cheapest pocket sprung mattresses that I could find from both sellers:

This one from Helibeds http://www.helibeds.co.uk/product.php?xProd=112 for £599.95

And this one is from mattressman http://www.mattressman.co.uk/rest_assured/mattresses/mattresses/king_size/P3430S21906/restapocket_800.aspx for £225. Now before anyone says they are a different spec, I had to go up 29 models to find a Millbrook mattress at the same price as Helibed's cheapest.

Now that was just an example, even though you can find cheaper than mattressman.
