Local Anesthetic - Hungry?

Hello
Just a quick question to ask please does anyone know if local anaesthetic makes people hungry?
I've never had it before and I had a tooth out earlier where it was done about 12.30/1pmish and didn't wear off until 5.30ish. Two lots was put in as it still hurt when they started and I had a couple of buns and a little bit of chicken/pasta about 3ish and then had a bit of a nap.
In the past hour I can't stop snacking, eaten 2 buns, a small bag of crisps, the last of the chicken/pasta, ice lolly and 2 yoghurts - and it's not a usual amount for me. I'm being careful and not eaten on the side that it's come out but I'm still peckish!
Thanks guys

Not that I know of but we always say it affects different people in different ways - this could just be your side effect!! Your liver will work to flush out the toxins from the injection so drink plenty of water for the next couple of days. HTH

Dont know about it being due to the LA but I know myself that if I have an adrenalin rush as I would have after having dental treatment (huge fear response) Id be starved after0

I don't think it's the anaesthetic that's to blame - but it's probably more a reaction to the stress of the proceedure.
Your 'fight or flight' response to stressful events is an instinct that's still with us from when we lived in trees.
You produce adrenaline which prepares your body to either wrestle an opponent to death, or run at 100mph in the opposite direction.
This involves releasing an awful lot of your energy reserves into your blood stream.
Once the stressful event is over, your body will want to replace all those reserves - cue one attack of the munchies!
It happens to me when I do 100 mile bike events. I can eat my bike afterwards!!!!!
EDIT - suki1964 beat me to it, and put it in a much more concise way!How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks very much guys
I hadn't eaten since 8/9pm the night before until about 3 this afternoon and by this evening I was starved whereas I'd not been too hungry beforehand.
[and typing that I realise I've answered my own question ]
