Grocery Shopping Online

Options
I'm fed up with Tesco, so thought I'd try out Asda. There is one nearish us but would be a bus journey or taxi journey which costs at least £4.40 soo figured I'd register and do my shopping online since delivery is only £4.00 and I'd get £5 cashback from quidco.

Registered, looked at the 'store' then froze. Where to start... still looking at the same page. How do you shop online? Do you go through items in your head or certain 'aisles'? Advice please!

I must say I don't like Asda's site - of all the online supermarkets, theirs is the worst and i still find it a bit of a slog if I want something new. But as a starting point with each site, I've just spent an hour or two going through each aisle, sticking everything we'd normally get in the basket. The trick is then to save it as a list (Asda and ocado) or checkout to get it added to favourites (Tesco and Sainsburys - you can cancel the order again straight away, it won't cost you anything), so that next time you shop, it's quicker.

After that, start with your favourites list, then scan the offers, search for anything new you want and look on here for a code, and you can do a weeks shop in under 30 minutes.

I'm on that now, it does look easier, but I guess I'll have to go through asda's site to get my quidco cashback... next time I think I'll use mysupermarket though.

Asda also have a new thing where if you have shopped in store and then next time wish to shop online, if you put the number from your receipt into the asda online it will save all your items! I was pretty impressed! lol

Yea I noticed that. I've never actually shopped there though :( I did give it a go, but it was so much easier to click x2 instead of buying just one. Ended up at about £40 and I had hardly anything I needed in my basket, so I left lol. May try it again though...

  • I have used Tesco and Asda on line and prefer Asda - although Tescos site is easier to use when it came to the deliveries they were shocking - either hours and hours (anything up to 3!) late or an hour too early! And their substitutes were always a much more expensive item -with Asda they give you a price promise and give you a better product but only charge the price of the thing you ordered. You can make up a basic shopping list and bring this up every time you order or you can (which I do) make a weekly one (using your own menus) so I now have a basic one and 4 weekly ones which I rotate. I have never paid a delivery yet (try ukhotdeals for codes) and if I do a monthly shop (all the heavy stuff!) I use my Asda credit card as you get free delivery over £99.
You do have to watch your basket as sometime if you are looking for something and press enter instead of search it adds another item to your basket!

Big thumbs up to asda with their price match on substitutes, on the rare occassion there is any. Unlike tesco send items double the price then have to chase up the refund 4 / 5 times for the returned overpriced item.

If asda are running late they always phone, tesco havent once in all the years ive been with them when 80% theyre late and the other time theyre early. dont think theyve ever came in the slot i paid for.

asda have always charged me the price online, tesco often charge more for items when your items arrive and despite their price promise refuse to do anything as prices can chage pff

Gone off, short dated, damaged, missing items from tesco. something with every order ive only ever had 1 item short dated from asda

I used Asda home delivery for the first time
today, abit of a mixed experience really.

The driver came within the time slot
and was friendly and efficient enough

I was charged for a deli item that was
no where to be seen inside the bag,
called the helpline and they said they
would refund the money, thought they
might of doubled the difference or something
seeing as it was my first order

Also they gave me two loafs of bread with only
1 day left on the best before date, one of which
already had mould on a few slices

Also I noticed a few frozen items were well on the
way to defrosting certainly more than you would expect
if there Vans were keeping the food at the right temperature

really not sure I will ever order fresh bread/fruit&veg from
a dot-com service again it seems to me there pickers really
don't care what they give you.
