P60 Figures Incorrect
Comments
-
I agreed £16,000 gross.
I used to only get £950 net because of the BR tax code, meaning I paid too much tax. I got rebated on this.
I now still get paid £950 because the gross figure has gone down to £14,000.
I've spoken to payroll, who say it's an error in the figures and they'll fix it accordingly this week.0 -
there are a couple of points to mention here. Your employer has acted illegally by re-issuing your payslips. They should have applied the 522 code and then triggered a tax rebate. It would appear they did not want to give you the rebate themselves so they fiddled the payslips and therefore the P60. I would be tempted to visit my local tax office with the original slips and the notification of the 522 code and report them. Secondly why were you on a BR code in the 1st place? It is more usual to put people on a 522 week 1 or month 1 code as this means they do not overpay too much tax until their code is sorted.
I have worked in payroll for several years and lots of employers translate tax rules to suit themselves and not for their employees benefit. Both my children worked at various jobs whilst at school/college and it took 2-3 years to get their overpayed tax back. Best of luck0 -
Some pension schemes can be classed as a salary sacrifice... Usually you can tell this by which side of your payslip these deductions appear.
I can't understand how payslips can change though? I don't think I'd like to work in your companys payroll department!!
On another note - I find putting starters on a BR code instead of a 543 W/M1 avoids having to collect extra tax when an employee is not actually entitled to any free pay.0 -
If they received your tax code 522L in time for your March 08 pay I think your last payslip should show accumulated figures of :
£16,000 gross pay, tax £2102.90, NI £1188 ( 52wk year? ), this would leave amount payable to you as net pay £12709.10.
I presume you have been paid £950 x 12 = £11400, an underpayment of £1309.10
Calculated as follows:-
.....................................gross ........... tax
tax free allowance......... £5225 ..........0.00
10% band ....................£2230 .......223.00
remainder at 22% .........£8545 .....1879.90
..................................................................
totals .........................£16000...... 2102.90
.................................................................'
.................................................... NI
No NI on £100pw ..........£5200.......... 0.00
11% on remainder....... £10800 ....1188.00
.................................................................
totals .........................£16000..... 1188.00
.................................................................
Sorry I had to use this layout but could not suss out how to create a table.0 -
Hi..
Have a slight issue regarding my P60. Over the 2008-09 period i have had 2 employers, but my last P60 for that year only shows my last employers contributions, i figured im about £8k out. The problem is that i have claimed tax credits using my P60 and fear that they will discover i have earned more than stated... and knowing Tax Credits they will claw back everything (Jeez, i already owe the excess of £11k) How do i get my P60 corrected, should i and what happens if i don't, will it stand in years to come.... Argh!, help...
