Money taken from my account

Having just checked my bank account, I noticed I was charged twice for petrol on my debit card. I don't have the receipt from this and the petrol station is in Cornwall (and I live in London) so can't go back there to complain.

Does anyone know what i can do about this? Would my bank be able to do anything? It's money I really can't be affording to lose at the moment

Thanks

  • I got charged twice for a purchase once - they acknowledged the mistake no probs.

Talk to your bank, if poss talk to the people who got your money...

I agree with Jezza101 - contact them both. If the two charges are next to each other on the statement, and they are for the same amount, the bank won't quibble at all, as it is an obvious error. It's happened to me on a credit card and it was refunded with no problem.
  • Thanks guys..will make a visit to the bank on Saturday and see what they say-fingers crossed!!

p.s. that was my first note and I really appreciate such a fast response-thanks again
