Nightmare. Hope you find something soon.
I too was made redundant on a sunny day (a number of years ago now). I remember I didn't really know what to do - it was a kind of empty feeling. However because the sun was shining, it didn't seem quite as bad.0 -
Sorry to hear the news.
On the upside, I was made redundant from my final tied agent stint when they closed the salesforce down. I had planned to go IFA for a long time but always put it off. But by given the push it made the decision for me and I have never looked back. So, positive things can come from this. Its given you the excuse to do what you wanted now.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Best of luck Andy.
According to Newsnight last week, the result of the current economic landscape will be considerable growth in the number of small specialist business's being established as more of us shun the employed / corporate lifestyle.0 -
Sorry to hear Andy
Sound like you have a great personality and sense of humour with the starting post, and I'm sure that will taek you a long way in whatever you decide to do
All the best and don't leave the boards!I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I am very sorry to hear this. You are obviously extremely switched on and I hope you find something to keep you occupied very soon.0

Yea, sorry to hear your news Andy and I hope you find something quickly and that it is something you'll enjoy.
Bad news is it's going to be a regular thing over the coming months. A lot of my business comes from new build market - one of my builders made a 3rd of their staff redundant a few weeks ago, and another has announced redundancies over the weekend.
An estate agent we used to get the odd lead from shut up shop last week aswell.
Going to be a tough summer I thinks!0 -
Thanks guys. To be honest I'm quite relieved in some ways, wanted to get out of sales/mortgages for a while.
I too was made redundant in November from a Building Society after 13.5 years (closed our mortgage processing centre). I now work for a company in the engineering field, best thing that could have happened to me. I fancied a change and being made redundant gave me a kick in the right direction.
You will soon find a job, good luck.0 -
Sorry about that! Hope you find something good soon0

Good luck Andy. Just remember that every change creates an opportunity.
If I were in your position I'd probably look to go working for (or franchise) one of the companies offering Debt Management to the public as an alternative to Bankruptsy or IVA.
That way, when the market returns and there is a need for advice from knowledgeable experts, as opposed to robotic, non-flexible, non-advising bank/building society advisers, you'll have another string to your bow and you'll know what the clients have gone through. You may even have built a client bank.I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -
Just wanted to say sorry to hear about the redundancy and wish you good luck in finding something else.
