i stumbled across this topic whilst checking over my bank account statements, like many people here i wrongly assumed it was some sort of loan protection etc.
I would like to take this up with PSA to see if they are willing to offer any sort of refund at all, i am in the middle of composing a letter to them, unfortunatly i have little to no skill at writing a letter of this kind (im not one to make complaints) so was hoping that someone would be kind enough to PM me and help me out with the wording to make it sound less like a adolescent teenager had written the letter.
Thanks very much in advance0 -
Okay so phones for you insurance is a complete scam. £9.99 a month. A £50 excess for first 6 months and then after a £10 excess. However if you need to claim like I did, you ring up an old number and get passed to another new number, all the time getting charged from your mobile. Then you have to register your claim, they then send out a long and complex paper form you have to fill out and send back and you may finally end up with your phone back a whole month to 2 months later! So you also have to buy a temporary phone and also pay for the postage and packaging of your phone.
Following on wanting to cancel my phone insurance after getting a new phone and contract and better insurance with orange. Aggressive sales tactics were used, to try and make me stay. Giving me quotes of phone theft saying orange didn't fully cover me and were rude about whether I would be able to cover massive bills myself. Quoting the initial shock figure of a phone is stolen every twelve seconds, when I said it wasn't very likely. Unfortunately for him I was put on hold and did some research into how many mobiles there were in the UK and figured out it is a 0.02% of your phone being stolen in a year and the likelihood of a massive bill being ran up is even less. Putting my maths degree to good use I presented these figures to him and told him to stop wasting any more of my time and money and to cancel the contract.
So advice, don't listen to everything sales people tell you. They will tell you the facts and figures they think will shock you most. Be strong and just tell them no and to just cancel it. Remember it costs you to ring these numbers of your mobile.
For anybody interested in ringing and cancelling the new policy admin service number is 08448710600.

Dannie

Hello all, I have spoken to LSG/PAS insurance Team and they would like to help with these complaints. I have arranged to feed back to them but in order to do so I will need the following information:
Either full name and postcode (at the date the policy was set up)
Or any 1 of the following:
Policy id,
Mobile number that the original P4U contract was set up under,
or the billing reference
Ideally we would also like a contact number too as the numbers on the policies are often out of date.
Anybody wishing to discuss their issue can do so by emailing the above details to me at: moneysavingexpert@phones4u.co.uk
The insurance Team will then call you back within 2 days.
I hope this helps.
Many thanks

I was recently checking my bank statement and noticed a payment of £9.99 to PAS (policy admin services) and wondered what is was for... i know its been on my statements for a while but thought it was linked to my mortgage. Was only when i googled it and found myself on this forum!
Thanks for all the info... been really helpful... however when i spoke to my bank to see how long its been coming out of my acc... wait for it... since 2004!! 7 years... so in total i have paid over £800 for something i never asked for. I never ask for phone insurance as im covered on my home insurance. The phone i got through phones4u at the time is long gone and wouldve only been on a 12month contract anyway.
I have today spoken to PAS who have said i need to contact my bank who will do an indemnity claim for me? Spoke to bank who said that PAS are passing the buck and that the bank can only do an indemnity for 12 months worth of payments (£120)... went back to PAS and they said no... you need to go into the bank and speak to someone... trekked off to bank who again told me they can only do 12 months indemnity and i need to speak to PAS again.:( so ive been going around in circles all day and have now spoken to the FOS (financial ombudsman) who have said to get back in touch with the bank and PAS and let them know that the FOS are now involved.
When i spoke to bank AGAIN.. i told them about FOS and asked to speak to someone higher they told me that they dont have any paperwork about the direct debit (neither do PAS funnily enough) and that they should now be able to do an indemnity dating back to 2006 (so 5 years!)... :j so this is better than 12 months... i am awaiting letters from both the bank and PAS and the bank reckon i should have some money back within 14 days...
Just wondering why i have gone through a totally different process to everyone else who has had money back??
I would also say to anyone else who has been rinsed by this company to get in touch with them and fight for your money back if you did not ask for the insurance.0 -
Avoid Policy Administration Services Ltd / PremierPlan / phones4u
This company is just about as expensive as you can find. Claims take a couple of days to administer ... then expect to wait ten working days for your telephone to be repaired or replaced.
We bought our telephones from Phones4U who clearly get a significant kick-backs (commission) from this financially driven outfit. Phones4U package this with the sale of each telephone, and scared/pressurised us into taking out insurance with this mob.
We cancelled two days after paying our £13.99 monthly fee, so lost 28 days worth of cover.
Avoid Phone4U's PremierPlan unless you really enjoy the feeling that you have been ripped off!0 -
well im a little cheesed off now.
Went through all the rigmarole of writing a letter to PAS, got a rubbish reply and phone call from them stating that there was not a lot that they could do, but that i could file an indemnity claim with my bank.
Went to my bank about a month ago, they said it's a common thing they've had to do and said it shouldn't be a problem and to await a call or the money.
Got a letter from them last week saying that because i am trying to claim back since 2005 that i would need to provide statements for the commencement date till 2006 as under the data protection act they only keep statements for 5 years. I phoned them and they said that unless i can provide these then i would not be able to get any money at all as indemnity claims work on a all or nothing refund, they cannot give me a partial refund for the statements they can provide.
Who the hell keeps 6 year old statements!!!!!
So unless i can magic these up looks like im getting nothing, £600 just thrown away like that!Started comping June 2011

Good evening all
Like most of you on this thread, I noticed that I was being charged not once, but TWICE a month by Policy Admins Services. One payment was for 7.99 and the other for 9.99. These charges have been on my statements for years, but stupidly I thought it was bank charges/mortgage fees or something.
So when I questioned these payments and typed the company name into Google, I found this very helpful thread.
I contacted PAS, who told me that the policies had been taken out in 2003 & 2004 respectively, so in total I had made payments in excess of £1400 to them. I said that I didn't remember signing any contract, and although very helpful, they advised me that I would receive a faster refund by contacting my bank for an indemnity claim.
So I contacted my bank on Monday, who immediately refunded me for the full £1400, and said that they would need to claim the money back directly from PAS.
However, I have come home today to find two letters from PAS, explaining that they have records of my signed insurance policies from Phones 4 U, and thus I am not entitled to a refund. However, my bank have already refunded me, so now I am completely confused! Will my bank take the money bank? Should I ask to see copies of the signed certificates from PAS?
I'm guessing that I need to put in a call to the Financial Ombudsman, but at present their office is closed and I wondered whether any fo you could give me any advice in the meantime.
Thanks so much in advance for any pearls of wisdom!

I took out policy admin (fonesafe?) insurance through phones4u with the 3 months free last may.
I got the 3 months free in cash back and was happy to continue with the insurance as I had a £400 phone.
In May of this year i received a letter informing me that that my year of insurance had ended and i needed to re-apply, which i did not wish to do.
Upon checking my bank statements i have realized that they have kept taking the £9.99 from my bank for the last 3 months regardless of the insurance ending - i don't know if this is common practise or my fault but i am not happy!0 -
I have noticed two lots of £7.99 policy admin services coming out of my bank account. I have gone back as far as i have statements for and its been coming out for years. I want to recover this as per previous posts but i am unsure how to obtain when this started coming out. Can anyone advise if the bank can tell me this? Or if i should question it with PAS and which course of action to take.
Many Thanks
Chloe0
