Hi Everyone,
I need a rant so apologies in advance......
I attended the South of England Show on Friday last week, where Thomas Cook had a mobile bureau de change unit where (for a fee of £2.00)you could draw out cash from the women at the counter . So I asked for my £20.00, entered my pin for the amount of £22.00 and got on with my day.
Anyway, today I checked my statement and they have taken £23.99! An extra £1.99 on top of the £2.00 fee!!!!
I know its not a lot, but if they have done that to every person who took money out at that show, they're laughing!
Does anyone know who I contact for this at Thomas Cook? Also, are they allowed to take additional monies that I haven't authorised? I have my receipt for the amount of £22.00 if that helps?
Thanks,
Gem

Contact your bank and tell them you only authorised a payment of £22 and that this additional amount is a fraudulent debit. Put this in writing and send them a copy of your reciept.Hi Everyone,

We went to the South of England show too, I am not sure what I was expecting, but not being in the market for a new tractor I found the whole thing a bit disappointing.

Yes it was a bit, i've been in the past so knew what to expect, however i was expecting it to have changed a little since I last went two years ago, but i hasn't at all! From the stalls to the layout....all exactly the same!
The only good thing was the wierd and wonderful food on offer!!
I shall write my letter to the bank and see what happens, thanks for your help

Gem - just a thought, could the extra be a charge from your bank and not Thomas Cook? For example Barclays has this charge on their debit cards:There is a 2% transaction charge (min £1.50 max £4.50) if you use your card in the UK to obtain sterling anywhere other than a cash machine or Barclays branch, and currency or travellers’ cheques anywhere other than a Barclays branch or Barclays website or via Barclays Travel Line.0

I agree it could be down to the card you used, did it have a visa symbol on it even though it is a debt card? I think you card slip is the only money taken through thomas cook and the extra is down to the bank. sorryGem - just a thought, could the extra be a charge from your bank and not Thomas Cook? Did you get this sorted out Gem?0

Charges applied by the bank would normally show as a separate debit I think.0
