The new Gameboy DS (Dual Screen) is due out in the US on November 21st. It will sell for about US$150 to US$170 - so probably about £80 or £90. It is the new system, but it is also backwards compatible. If you buy from a site like liksang, the shipping is free although you may have to pay import duty. There are also issues such as the chargers being compatible, but, it means that buying an SP now is likely to be a stopgap that will go down in price as soon as the DS is released.
This is the liksang DS page:

Im thinking of getting a SP as well but not sure if the "special" carts work with them :-X0 -
The DS is a completely new game boy. The GBA was very similar to a Super Nintendo, a lot of the games were almost straight ports. The DS is much more like an N64, Mario 4x4 is a launch title which is almost exactly the same as Mario 64 except you can play as one of four characters. One of the two screens is also touch sensitive with a stylus, and has a program built in that allows you to 'instant message' with another DS that will see whatever you draw.
Its nearest competitor is the PS2, which it is not quite as powerful as, but the battery life is longer. It is not just a cosmetic thing, it is the next generation Gameboy.'Imagine something inspiring that somebody once said to you and go out there and win!'0
