I'm Not Allowed to Go Bankrupt

Hi,
Im sorry I find the 'advice' from CCCS on this particular occassion very bizzare, and im not sure I see the point. Banks is clearly insolvent, making BR a good choice. Most people who go BR are in 'negative' regarding their income and outgoings.
Banks needs to address his income situation by clarifying the minimum wage issue ( it is not true to say that being on min wage causes problems with tax credits ), and applying for tax credit and other benefits as neccessary.
Many people have to live on income support after BR, I did myself for a while. Its not much fun ( as some of you will know ) getting by on £ 60.15 pw if your over 25 and single, but at least you wont have the millstone and pressure of lots of debt around your neck, and should hopefully have your housing and council tax covered.
Banks if you post all your info about age, hours worked, etc etc then we will work through it.
PS Max was right about reporting the min wage.

I hope she is not on less than the minimum wage for his/her age as I know ages plays into that as well. I just cannot believe no help is out there, if this person lived in council accomodation on that low wage they would get council rent and council tax benefit I am sure. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0

Are you self-employed? Is that why your earnings are so low?

like all the help for the low paid, you have to claim it, which means you have to know about it, we lost a home due to rent arrears in 1980 - id never heard of housing benefit and hadnt claimed it0 -
BTW, the OR cant object to a petition for BR, its granted by a judge, the OR then has the task of sorting the details out later.0

I can sympathise with that, I had no ideas on benefits til I came home from a year abroad with two kids and no home (1991). Months later I learnt about single parent child allowance, had never heard of it, had never needed to, but it was a whole year after the event when someone said are you claiming this this and this and I said NO. Every penny counted back then, and those extra few pounds would have made such a difference.
It could be that this person is self employed or only able to work reduced hours? Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -
I didn't want to cause an issue here regarding the Tax Credits. I was just going by my own experience. The only reason I know Tax Credits struggle with those who earn under the min. wage, was when I was a director of my own Ltd company - I was indeed earning less than the min. wage for the hours I worked - as my company was in trouble & I didn't pay myself much. Basically, their "Computer Said No"!! however after a bit of pushing on my part, they did award something in the end. WTC & CTC. Maybe I should have been a little clearer earlier. My post was just concern that the OP could be working for less than the min. wage and that as said before needs to be reported, if working for an employer and not him or herself.0
