Hiring A Car Abroad Whilst On A DMP

I know this is a bit of an obscure question but does anyone know how to hire a car abroad if you are on a DMP and therefore don't have a VISA or other credit card. My husbands family are in Ireland and we normally load up the kids and drive but we live in the SE of England and its a very long stressful drive right across England before we even get to the ferry port in Wales. We've been looking at the cheap Ryan Air flights but would need to hire a car as his family live out in the middle of nowhere. Most hire companies seem to need a VISA card for the deposit against you not returning the car, which obviously we now don't have as been on a DMP since Feb. Anyone had experience of how to get round this prob? Many thanks x

One idea might be to get a pre paid visa card, no checks or credit just spend what you put on it ( that sounds like a slogan)

load the money onto that and use that as payment.

i use the virgin pre pay card as i found that sometimes like yourselves you need to produce a visa card.

not sure of the answer but thought id bump it as im interested the hear anyone else's experiences or solutions

You can use a pre-paid Mastercard Card, but not all of them. For example with a cashplus card, you specifically have to notify them that you wish to use it for Car Hire otherwise they will refuse it.
