Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-126

Above laptop has been recommended to me based on the specifications I gave (is it true Toshiba make the best laptops ). Any feedback/other recommendations would be appreciated.

  • I bought a Toshiba Satellite pro M40 for £650 which I thought was a reasonably high spec laptop - it was a one user, office based laptop and 21 months later it stopped working, the company I bought it off weren't interested because it was out of its 12 month warranty period, I took it to a local specialist repair shop who told me that I had done well to get 21 months out of a Toshiba laptop but that they make good TV's!!! It is going to cost half as much again to repair it so in future I am going to just buy cheap £200 disposable laptops.
  • I'm after a laptop as well and lots of people seem to favour Toshiba. However, whenever I've tried the keyboards on them they always seem flimsy.

I find it amazing that they can cram as much Mhz/RAM in as they can and yet can't make a cheap but tough plastic case and keyboard.

I went to Curry's the other day and the best keyboard on all the laptops (for me anyway) was on the cheapo Advent.

I want something's that going to last 5 years. Maybe that's a bit ambitious but the desktop I'm using now is 6 years old and works perfectly well.
