Yes - There are a 2/3 of lenders at the moment offering slightly different "exclusives" via different distribution channels ( whether direct, or just for a particular broker or group of brokers ) , this won't usually show up on the
    the client facing comparison sites.

Yeah Charcol and L&C get their fair share, but so do the "mortgage networks- run by the insurance comapanies and IFA networks" - often  all similiar products just re-jigged .
( although do watch out for things like large account closing fees or even Telegraphic transfer fees on "free" legals)

Of course these lenders are reducing margins and  often looking at straightforward cases.

  • You can get 2 year discount for 4.44% with £395 fee or 4.24% with £695 fee from A&L and Savills respectively.

To compare these we need a psuedo APR calculation of these two possible mortgages over a two year period disregarding what happens after the two years.

The interest per month on each of the two loans only differs by 20p per £100 per year or £20 per £10,000 per year.

With the original poster and the amount of mortgage he has undoubtedly the A&L is the better offer all other things apart from the arrangement fee being equal.

At about £80,000 , give or take, the Savills offer becomes more attractive. IMHO

  • I have been talking to a couple of brokers (one reccommeded) Birmingham & Midshires Tracker 4.69% has been the best offered so far. The problem is I still need to get a mortgage as self cert. One broker mentioned that a loan taken out from my bank (small one) would be cheaper to pay back if I included it in the mortgage repayments? Is this usual practice? The more advice I get the harder it is to make a decision.
