Laptop 'desktop size' problem

My daughter has somehow made everything on her laptop very large, and although i have found out how to reduce the font size, but this does not reduce everything else, so all the icons are large, the background is too big for the screen and when i click on various 'tools' etc, we cant see the bottom to apply anything, as its all too large.

I hope someone understands my ramblings - ive tried the control panel, and cant see anything to help, and ive typed various different things into the help and support, but that hasnt helped either and now, after an hour im stumped!!!

Thanks for any help!!

Right click properties on the desktop, Settings Tab, Screen resolution slider.

Hi, While there also left click the Advanced button and make sure the DPI setting is Normal size (96DPI). While in the Display Properties window also go to the Appearence tab and reset the Windows and buttons to Windows XP style the colour scheme to Default (blue) and Font size to Normal. All that should put you back to normal. As espresso says slide the resolution, but what is best to suit the screen size you have? Some sizes for you, are 800x600 or1024x768 or 1280x768 or 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 what fits the screen correctly and looks the sharpest is good.
