Halifax, i need to do somthing about them

Hi all
i have a cc debit with the above and im in my 3rd year on a dmp, originaly the HF aggreed the payments and froze the interest.
some time ago they suddenly started hiting me with charges and interest, i spoke to them and was adviced they were taken over by i think RBS?, and they were doing this to all there dmp cliants.
they told me that they would do this for a further 6 months then pass the debt on etc etc.
well im currently paying them £75 a month on a 8k debt this has increased yearly, im getting hit with over £80 a month in interest and charges so nothing get reduced and going up!!
cccs have asked them to stop but with no luck, to be honest ive just carried the last 5-6 months as had a new baby and didnt need the aggro, but now i need to sort them.
im going to send a letter demanding they do somthing one way or another otherwise ill wright to the ombnesman (sp). failing that im thinking just stop paying and hope they take me to court, not bothered about a CCJ as have one already and not worried about going in front of a Judge and this will get the interest stoped.
anyone else had this with them

tuscan hon they are pulling the wool over your eyes. Halifax are a part of the HBOS group and have never been taken over. I have had a DMP on a loan and credit card with them since 2004 and they have always been one of the best companies to deal with.
They have their own in house DCA by the name of blair oliver and scott.
I really would start to get toughwith them and state that you feel you have been deceived. Ask them to send the debt to blair oliver scott as their in house DCA and that you ask that they freeze interest and charges with immediate effect.
Look up the banking code with regards to treating customers fairly.
also give the financial ombudsman service a call and run the facts past them.
Hope it all works out for you
Kind wishes

thanks for that..
im going to call them tomorow, its my own fault for letting it go, not like me normaly as i recently had a huge battle through the courts with Natwest, on that one i stuck to my guns faced them down in court and won:beer:0 -
They may be referring to this, which is not strictly a takeover but is still a big change in which part of the group oversees your (former) accounts.
From wp.In 2006, the HBOS Group Reorganisation Act 2006was passed. The aim of the Act was to simplify the corporate structureof HBOS. The Act was fully implemented on 17 September 2007 and theassets and liabilities of Halifax plc transferred to Bank of Scotlandplc. The Halifax brand name will be retained as a trading style, but itno longer exists as a corporate entity.
Good luck. There is no reason why they can't be reasonable if they choose.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

yep think thats it, it was bank of Scotland they quoted to me. ill call tomorow and see if they will change there ways, otherwise ill go down a diffrerent route.
im certianly not going to carry on paying £75 a month only for them to charge me £80+. debt will never get payed off that way..

Don't call, write, it's never good to speak to them on the phone.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I had the same problem with BOS, I wrote to them (send it recorded as they told me that I hadn't sent 6 of my previous letters, but did manage to get the recorded one even though they all got sent to the same address)
I told them that I didn't mind the interest - that was fair game as they have stopped it for 3 years before that - but I said the charges were ridiculous - a late payment charge when I paid (via Payplan) at the same time every month for the last 3 years and all other creditors had adjusted my due by date. I said that I thought it was against both my & their interest (no pun intended) for them to keep adding charges and artificially increasing my debt when surely we both wanted it to be reducing
They were very good and sent a very detailed reply, and they refunded charges to date and have not charged me them since, although I still do pay interest.[STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0
