Order your credit reports from Experian, Equifax, & CallCredit. You're looking for...
Evidence of electoral roll registration at your current address.
3 years (6 is better) address history.
No financial associations (with anyone with a poor credit history).
Number of credit searches. Any more than 3-4 in the last 2 months or so and you might want to wait a while before making another application.
If all is well, approach your bank for a card. If they refuse, then approach one of the credit-builder card providers such as Aqua, Vanquis, Barclaycard Initial, etc. Might be best to avoid the Capital One product though!0 -
Hi thanks for the reply
i used checkmyfile and that gave me access to all 3 reports
I have been at my address for 8 years first 3 was on the electoral roll then came off it as capital one was herrasing me and i was in a bad situation i owed them £100, came out of work and by the time i was able to pay it was £600 and i could not get that type of cash
but i ended up paying it off and i been back on the electoral roll for a year
no finacial associations with anyone atall
there is 3 serches on my report 2 for my bank account and the other is o2 mobile wich i was rejected for
i have applied for credit from my bank and was rejected
i have no CCJs 1 default and that is it on my credit report it says nothing else atall
i dont really want to go down the credit card road not with credit builders anyhow but i guess ima have to
