Spending Money

Hi All,
I need some advice on how much money to take with me to Gallway in Ireland. I go away next weekend and I have already saved some money by cancelling our 2nd night in the hotel cause we have to leave the hotel at 3am in the morning to go back to the airport so it didn't seem worth having to pay for the 2nd night.
I have rented a car and the hotel is 1 and a half hours away from the airport.
We have the 1st night hotel paid for with breakfast and an evening meal so I need money for the following;
Petrol
Lunch on 2 days for 2 people
Dinner on 1 day for 2 people.
General spending money which will be a bit more on the 2nd night due to us staying out later before we go to the airport.
Thanks in advance. L xxx:beer:

Hi Moneymaker,
The only thing I can advise to keep your costs down whilst there are to only get petrol from garages in the big towns as is will be cheaper per ltr. Also DON'T pay for the car hire people to fill up the tank when you take the car back, even if you fill up the car at the petrol station on the outskirts of the airport it will still be cheaper than having the hire company do it!
Mom and I do fly/drives regularly to Ireland (Birmingham to Dublin). Don't know too much about Gallway city except their hospital staff are very nice and they have the most plush private hospital I've ever seen! Grand piano in the foyer!!!! lol. oh not that I've actually seen any other private hospitals!
Anyway, before we spent 5 hours in the hospital, we went to see the Cliffs of Moher which is free, the Burren again free but there are historical/geological type centres that you can go in part free or pay for a guide and tour of other sites. The Burren is just like a huge landscape of rock similar in places to what solidified lava looks like with the odd megalithic burial structure dotted about. There are also some caves that you can go to (you have to pay but it's worth a visit) watch the carpark, this is where mom went a cropper and bust her ankle. The staff were worse than useless and didn't even bring her a chair just a bowl of water and some cotton wool to clean the blood off her face. Luckily some passers-by helped me get mom into the car before I had to take the bowl back to the centre!
The Cliffs of Mohar and The Burren are not far south of Gallway and I can't remember the name of the caves or their exact location but somewhere around The Burren (there will be leaflets in the hotel no doubt).
Anyway, moving swiftly on, if you want to keep costs down you could have dinner/lunch at a local large supermarket (we've noticed over the years more and more of "our" type supermarkets springing up i.e. Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys). Anyway, for eating in they are still cheaper than a cafe and much cheaper than pub grub and whilst you are there you could also buy your packed sandwiches/snacks too.
Hope this helps a bit and hope you have a great time there.
