HELP!!! I've ruined £4 worth of chocolate!

I had some fresh cream left over so I thought I would try using it to dilute the choc in my fountain as I had seen this suggested elsewhere on this forum.
I melted the choc in the microwave then stirred in the cream and it went all granular and no amount of heating and stirring will make it smooth again.
So 3 questions. 1. What did I do wrong, and 2. How can I put it right, and 3. If I can't put it right is there anything I can use the grainy stuff for?
Please help if you can, otherwise I'll have to waste £4 worth of chocolate, a thought that would fill any old styler (or chocoholic!) with horror!

I don't think it will even hold them together - it's a bit like wet sand!Oh dear, here we go again.0

Can you sieve it? That's my answer to lumps in anything I'm afraid. If it's little grains, how about a tea strainer?0

Freeze it, chop it into blocks and eat!
Beat / whisk and see if it will smooth.
Send it over to me, and I will eat it.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles

Maybe it's worth risking some eggs and flour.....bake it and see what happens...you might create something fantastic by mistake?

What about mixing with icing sugar to make cake frosting? I got a similar frosting recipe out of Olive magazine and it was great......don't know about qtys you've used though."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Ooh, fab idea! I'm going to chuck it in the food processor with some icing sugare and a tiny bit of milk then keep it whizzing for ages and see what happens.
If that doesn't work I'll have a go at the cake idea - it probably won't be the best cake in the world but if it's chocolate my kids won't leave a crumb!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
BTW Cranky, the tea strainer didn't work - came out as finer grains but still won't melt together! Thanks for the suggestion though, it did sound quite hopeful.Oh dear, here we go again.0
