Hi got to say this is the best place to be on the web.
Just spent a lazy morning browsing and came across this website
http://www.drivewater4fuel.com/water_for_gas.html
I know the addage to good to be true and this seems to fall into this one, but!! it does come across as convincing and the youtube clip seems to condone it.
Has anyone here heard of it or even got it up and running.
I havn't a clue as far as engines go but does this work??

I saw a similar scheme a while back - which as far as I could gather suggested taking power from the cars electrical system for electrolysis of the water (splitting into hydrogen and oxygen) and then feeding the gas into the engine for combustion.
The key thing to remember is there is no chemical energy in the water - you cannot react it with air to produce energy and to convert it into a form that you can react/burn, takes energy which you have to supply.
It's a bit like a bad perpertual motion scheme - the electrical energy has come from the alternator, driven by the engine shaft. You take 1 unit of mechanical energy from the engine to drive the alternator (we'll assume this is 95% efficient) giving 0.95 units of electrical energy, we'll then convert it into hydrogen, losing a fraction of the energy in the process, lets say the process is 95% efficient, so you are left with 0.9 units of hydrogen energy. This is then burnt in the engine at an efficiency of about 30% (30% being transformed to mechanical power output the rest going to waste as heat), so you have 0.27 units of useful mechanical energy at the end of the process.
You started with 1 unit of mechanical energy and through the various steps in the process ended up with 0.27 units of mechanical energy - you've actually lost energy.
The above said there are some legitimate engine modification schemes that use water or steam injection but they are not 'free energy', the energy to run the engine is still coming from the fuel. They are used to increase the maximum power rating of the engine, or improve efficiency slightly.0 -

I dread to think that people who fall for this must not have a brain that works properly, surely they should be off the road and help road safety

not sure of its green credentials until we see what energy they use to extract the hydrogen but it looks promising for the lentalists amongst us0 -
I was only talking to my boss about this the other day.
His Father worked on a project in the war to make aeroplanes run on water by splitting the hydrogen and oxygen molecules. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
