My son has a pile of x box games he no longer uses. He wants me to take them to either Game or gamestation. I expect that they will only give him a pittance but I dont suppose that they are worth much either. Anyone any suggestions?
(Probally not worth the effort of putting them on ebay or doing a car boot)

you might be better off trying to use them for trades - i think most places will do that - probably still get very little but possibly more than selling them?"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." (Mark Twain)0

Yep sell them on and deprive the people who worked hard to develop the games some more cash. Actually the second hand game trade has had a serious impact on game development revenues. Must be especially annoying when people contact the publisher for support and the purchaser hasnt contributed anything to the cost of running the support line - v.cheeky if you ask me!
Of course this wont stop anyone from doing it but I was reading an article from the developers point of view and it is a serious issue for them. Many smaller companies run on tight margins due to the high development costs of modern games and some are seeing their slim profits vanish fast.
The industry would like retailers such as Game to supply a resale percentage, but of course they arent playing ball - how long before all games will be electronically registered to a specific user, its on the way!
This came out harsher than I thought, its just something people might want to be aware of

My 15 year old son would love to be able to afford the £30 odd for new games as and when they come out. Unfortunatley he is at school and not working and earning. In our local area no one will employ any child until they are 16 because of health and safety restictions. Even when he is 16 he will be doing his GCSEs so there wil not be time to take on a part time job to earn money to pay for new games.
In the meantime he is trying to maximise what he has by selling off the x box games he no longer uses. He has been saving every penny that he can since August because there is a game he wants to get.
Also if he did not dispose of old games there would be no room for new ones.

try https://www.avforums.com you can sell on there, you must give the price you want inc P&P if the price is too high they will make you an offer. Its up to you if you let them go for less than you want, the best thing is no charge for selling, take a look.mhoc wrote:My son has a pile of x box games he no longer uses. Yeh right!!!! These companies have been ripping off kids for years (£30+ a game) & their not making money?, more like their millions of pounds of profit could be more if only there was no second hand market.....
Sure, never worry about the hard up parents who, probably work a darn site harder to earn cash to pay the extortionate inflated prices.....
This is a money saving forum, isn't it???What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -

I guess you could say that about almost anything you've bought and want to get rid off ie: car, washing machine, bicycle, TV.;) There wouldn't be a market for anything secondhand...Why is it we pay more for games than the USA?
I suggest bundling all the games together and flogging them on Ebay or seeing if anyone is prepared to do a swop. List one game for sale using other simular games as a guide to the price, THEN add all the other games you want to trade or swop in the same sale and see if anyone wants to do a deal with you.
Your fees would only be pennies with nothing to lose really.
Good luckI run because I like BEER.....

Hi you can also sell on Amazon too if you are not in a hurry. The gamestation give the best trade ins , and MVC do trade ins too ,but every now and then the Game do a 4 games for a brand new game offer- so i tend to keep mine buy till then. The game are laso doing a thing were if you trade in a game you can put the money on a card until you are ready to purchase, which is a good idea.
However I am not sure if they will do the 4 games for a new one soon with the new 360 xbox release in December- when the xbox games will go down more.So I would definately get rid of them before then.
I have sold some on ebay for an ok price ( as the postage covers the listing -say £1.50 is not unreasonable as it costa about 90p to send ). It all depends what games they are - Live are worth more .0 -
the poster you quoted was talking about game designers getting little money, not the companies that sell the games.bribrian wrote:Yeh right!!!! the industry is kind of like the music industry, the developer of the games gets the least money just like the writer of the songs.'What's poignancy grandad?'
