Hi
Does anyone know if you can use porcelain pens onto pre-glazed mugs (gonna buy asda smart price ones).
Will they need baking off again - if so, anyone know on what temp and how long for?
Thanks

just make sure the mugs are completely clean and dry. let the paint dry for a few hours then bake in a preheated oven at 160 (gas mk 3) for 90 mins. leave to cool completely in the oven or put somewhere safe to cool down until cold.

I use porcelain paints and pens and bake for 35mins at 150. They are then dishwasher proof etc. I painted a pile of white paints about 7yrs ago for christmas, holly round edges and berries. They have been used so much since then as have the bowls, cups etc that I painted for christmas. I used Pebeo 150. Friend of mine bought bowls etc from Ikea and for her daughters birthday party the children painted their own bowls. Dry them for 24hrs before baking but they will be touch dry after about 45min. :-)Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Do you mind me asking where did you get the porcelain pens from and how much were they. This is something I have been intending doing with the kids for ages.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0

Thanks for the replies. I was concerned that I could get my daughter to paint on already glazed mugs. Asda have smartprice ones at £0.19p each and is such a bargain to give a personalised pressie.
It was quite a struggle to find porcelain pens. They do sell them on ebay in a pack for about £13, but I managed to find a local Colmans store that had some left. Most shops don't seem to stock them anymore. They are £3.10 each.
I will let my daughter pick one colour as money is tight :0(No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

I use Pebeo 150 and they do sell them at Hobby Craft. Yes I paint on glazed crockery always and they work fantastic. I have done a huge ammount with my small pots of paint, about £3.50, they last for ages. I can really recommend this as an activity with children or even youth the youth at our youth club loved it.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
