Cefa is harder than CeMAP. You used to be able to buy a CD-ROM from the IFS to help with training, it had loads of past papers on it and gave you the answers when you finished.
There are a finite number of questions you can come up with on any subject so I found that doing these exams over and over again really helped, whilst I had been in the industry for a few years I did this for a week, sat all 3 exams and passed.
You actually find the questions come up in the real exam thast were on the CD_ROM, it was about £100.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
Agreed with HB, doing CeFA took my far longer than CeMAP.
Really at the moment I think going into anything job/career-wise involving mortgages isn't a great idea. You may be better off doing CeFA/FPC and getting involved in investments or suchlike.0 -
What is the best way around it? Shall i find a job as a trainee mortgage adviser before i take my cemap, or shall i complete my cemap then find the jobs?0

Depends on what distribution channel you are looking at. Some of the sales companies will take you on unqualified and train you. Others will want you to have exams first (many will only consider you if you only have experience).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
