I've sheared a bolt..... advice required..
Options
I changed two coils on my mother in laws car tonight and one of the retaining bolts sheared off, as I tried to losen it (10mm head).
Basically, it's snapped flush and I've just stopped swearing 2 hours later.
The coil still sits on the plug, but is popping up about half an inch, but is still driving OK despite this.
I want to be sure it's right though and wonder what the best solution is. I've never drilled one out before and I am not too sure what the best solution is.
Can anyone advise(the best money saving solution
)?

You can get stud extractors to get them out. One grips on what's left of the bolt that sticks out of the bit its bolted into and the other you drill a hole in the centre of the bolt, insert this tool and its a left hand thread which cuts into the stud and takes it out. Failing that, it's a case of drilling the remaining stud out and cutting a new thread with a tap and die set.
Another alternative is to find a way to secure it in place with tie wraps or similar which should be OK if it holds.0 -
