appealing a credit card refusal help please

hi guy i was wondering if anyone could help so here goes
my wife died late in 2004 and early 2005 i received a ccj and 2 defaults!
i have met a girl who has been wonderful took on me and my son from my wife that died so i have applied with capital one and vanquis and got refused i have paid off my final default today and now have nothing outstanding on my credit file i want to know when my final default gets marked satisfied will it be worth challanging the refusals from the cc companies will they overturn there decisions and if so how would i word a letter of appeal!

    I think it takes some time for your credit file to be updated. The best thing to do IMHO is to wait for six months. Also, someone on here will know way more about credit files so hopefully they'll be along on the day time shift but I think your CCJ and defaults may stay on your file for some years.

    Hope someone comes along with some better advice than mine soon!

    yes im aware that they will remain on my file for a further 3 years but surely paid off old debt will have a possitive affect!

    at the moment with lenders tightening up lending criterial even satisfied debt after default or ccj isn't having a positive effect.

    you can challenge the refusal if you want but in all honesty i don't think it will change much.

    I personally your wait for 6 months and try again with maybe cap one.

    thank you for the reply i think i may appeal if i knew it would at least do something but as i dont i may as well do what you say and wait 6 months

    Actually it's 6 years they remain on file. A paid off debt won't have a positive effect as you've proven you're a bad payer and in the current market, they're not offering credit to anyone who looks remotely dodgy.

    Learn to live without one - it's not that hard.

    i know its not hard i just want to build my file as to when it comes to a time when i can get a morgage i will have a better looking file and it is 3 years old hence it dalls off in 3!!!

    and im not dodgy my wife died late in 2004 if you lived my life your credit file might not look that healthy through no fault of your own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
