pensions

I was told recently that when you left your firm for a new job that you could take your pension contribution along with a fair percentageof the employers contribution. The reasoning behind this being that the pension is part of your wages and is therefore yours.

Can anybody confirm this?

I think you will find that it depends entirely on the rules of the particular pension scheme you were a member of.

As for the Pension contributions being part of your 'wages' .... this is often touched upon on here.

Of course any contributions made by your employer should be looked at as part of your total renumeration package, and not as just some 'free' gift....you can guarantee than any employer looks at the contributions in that light.

As for when the contributions become 'yours' usually depends on the small print, and usually is subject to you being a member of the scheme for a length of time often 2 years.
