Afternoon, sorry to hear about OH's diagnosis, fingers crossed for you both and for his/her treatment.
You have quite a few people to deal with here, If it were me I would go with one of the debt advice charities (like the one you contacted) it may take longer to pay off but they will do all the legwork (you can just tell the companies to speak to CCCS every time they contact you) and after a couple of months the companies will stop contacting you, then you can focus on you and OH more. The DMP you set up with CCCS initially may take 5 years instead of 3 but you can review this over time and if you have extra cash floating around you can make sure you don't spend it and then you can put this towards all your debts or save it so that you have a couple of hundred as a buffer just in case you need it.
Obviously you may prefer to run the DMP yourself, but the first few months could be quite a lot of stress as you will have to negotiate rather than CCCS negotiating for you (that will calm down though and lots of people on here have their own DMPs and feel a lot better for doing it themselves)
It basically comes down to personal preference.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

with my CCCS DMP all interest has been stopped dont know if it makes any difference if you do your own or if they're more likely to stop interest if you're with CCCS or someone similar0

Have you sent all creditors you SOA? and are you paying them all pro rata? Ie the more you owe to them the more you pay out of any money you have available for debt repayment- it doesn't look like you are giving them each a fair share to be honest so maybe that's why they won't freeze interest? Have you explained that this situation was caused by your OH having cancer and asked them to freeze interest?
Also pop up you SOA - all your incomings and outgoings and maybe people can advise you on any areas you can cut down on?Making my money go further with MSE :j
