Working 15 hours per week & pension rights?

sorry I'm not sure whether this question is in the right place. Basically I am in with a good chance of getting a job but it will only be for 15 hours per week, will this give me pension rights? I'd like to take advantage of the company pension scheme if I can.

Also does working less than 16 hours still mean I have no rights? I'm sure it used to but this may have been a long time ago.

Thanks.

  • Under the Part Time Workers' (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations, you are entitled to the same benefits, including pensions, as a full time person, but pro-rata.

So there is no reason why you should not be offered membership of the pension scheme. The Company would have to prove it had a "reasonable justification" in order to exclude you.

    Best to ask them

    Did you get the job?
