Ask A Question ?

I have been reading a lot of threads on here for a while now and am starting to feel like I don't want to anymore. I thought the purpose of this site was to get help on things you did not know. People ask a question (not neccessarily the op) and it looks like they are getting abuse off some posters for not knowing. Maybe I am wrong or I am just having a bad day, the thread I have just been reading has made me feel really down at the moment.

Some people have reported some mean spirited responses. It's best to look past these. Other comments are made when a question has been asked and answered often and op does not check past threads. This is not entirely fair for new people who are unfamiliar.

Try not to let these things put you off from posting. It's important that everyone gets the advice and help they want from moneysavingexpert.com. That's what it's here for.

    Best of luck.

There are alot of trolls visiting the board right now and insulting people. Some "regulars" may be a little abrupt - i know i have on rereading some of my posts, but it was just a case of getting the information out there before my boss caught me not working :o

You know what this board is like for support. If someone is feeling down and someone tried to put the boot in, they're going to need to run for cover. Hope you feel a little better soon.

PS - if the question is not by the OP, are people being told to start their own threads? That's just so that a thread doesn't get hijacked and all questions can get answered. :grouphug:

The vast majority of people on here are genuinely trying to help, but it is an open forum and attracts a few sad people with all sorts of issues that they cannot deal with, so they take it out on others and hide behind the anonymity of the internet. Just ignore them and feel sorry for them that they need to post unkind and hurtful remarks.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

The harsh comments are definately in the minority. 99.9% of comments I've read on here have been helpful and supportive so please don't le the minority ruin your view of the rest of us. :)

I agree - DFW is actually one of the friendlier boards on here - the harsh comments tend to be from trolls or troublemakers rather than regular posters. Hope it wont put you off.

Edit - is the thread you're referring to on this board? I've just had a quick look through the first couple of pages and couldn't see anything with harsh or unhelpful comments.
