Council Tax and Bailiffs

Hi,
I have an old Council Tax bill which Bailiffs (Marston Group Ltd) have been chasing me for.
I've been on Benefits as a single dad for several years, and so I wrote to the Council asking to make payments to them, and for them to take the case back from the bailiffs. This was accepted.
However, I have today received a letter from the Bailiffs which basically states that they want all my Benefit details (my date of birth, NI number, Benefit Office, which benefit)
Should I be giving the bailiffs these details - I don't want them applying for deductions from my benefits, and other than for that reason, I can't see why they would want all the above details if the Council have taken the case back off them.
What should I do?

When was your agreement with the council accepted?
Do you have confirmation in writing the council have taken the debt back?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
you state you are on benefits with children - have you made sure your council tax benefit is correct? - plus are you on Income Support? - the reason i ask is that you may be better off having the repayments attached to that0

Yes, I'm on benefits (Income Support) with one child.
Council Tax Benefit is correct - this is from a previous address many years back, when I was working but in financial hardship.
I know I could have it taken from Income Support, but it would take forever to pay back at £2+ a week. I have offered them £17.50 a month which they accepted.
I'm happy to supply Marston's with my details if they can't delve too much and can't apply an attachment to benefits, I was just curious why they wanted such details. Their letter to me mentions "recent correspondence we received regarding outstanding Council Tax by Manchester City Council" so I'm guessing they are aware that the council are 'taking it back'?0
