I had big, glossy folder, letters and- a visit to my house (turned up on a Saturday afternoon, but went away ok when I said I wasnt interested). Ignore them and they go away after about 2 weeks.
Did you have the brochure with the rather tubby guy looking sad because he was bankrupt?? He looked a bit like the guy that came to the house, his employers really get their moneys worth out of him.
Hey no, no big fat guy...Eeek!!! Just a really glossy professional brochure which if you were desperate and defeated may seem like an option but nooooo, we're all too wise on here:j*BSC member 159*If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance.....:D

At least the OFT have warned the ones that target people who are in IVA's today.

OFT warns consumers about misleading IVA mailingsThe OFT has issued warnings to 12 businesses and has given them four weeks to respond. They have been told to amend any misleading claims made in their IVA advertising and promotional material and to be more transparent about the possible implications for consumers if they do terminate an IVA agreement. The OFT will consider taking action against any business that fails to address our concerns. Such action could include taking steps to revoke consumer credit licences held by the business.
Ray Watson, OFT Director for Consumer Credit, said:
'Tackling companies who are engaging in unfair business practices by targeting vulnerable consumers with misleading advice and information, particularly if it leads to consumers becoming more over-indebted, is a key priority for the OFT. We expect any advice and/or information given to debtors to be in their best interests and it should include a full explanation of the implications of offers or advice.'Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Good!!!! I think it's bl**dy inappropriate to be toting for business from those who are already at their wits end and struggling with their finances anyway. It's like those bloody ads where they tell you you can sell your house and then rent it back but it's a damn skank and those who don't read the msall print suffer!!!*BSC member 159*If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance.....:D

I had three letters in the same week. I telephoned them, let rip by blasting off their ears. (I think the nicest thing I called them was ''low life scumbags'') Girl on phone was quite indignant at first that they are providing a service to those in need. She said they get our details from the Insolvency website. She got a tad upset with me then and said they would not bother me again. HURRAH...RESULT!! :T:happyloveLife - Live it to the full, but live it wisely :A0

Congratulations TigerLily and IntheBrownStuff on getting through your BR. Good luck on your interviews. Don't let these letters bother you and don't waste your time or money on phoning them.
I got a CCJ just shortly after my BR and I got a phone call to say ... "blah blah blah, heard about your CCJ, we may be able to help". I told them they were mis-informed and that I didn't have a CCJ and hung up on them.
